The cutting booklet consists of 41 pages. It is a graded program, developed for a PhD thesis. Each page consists of a practice section as well as a picture to be cut out. These are graded from straight lines, to zig-zags, corners, gentle hops, curves, spirals and circles. Line thickness is also graded from 3 mm to 1mm, allowing the child to learn to cut on the line. Initially, the child needs to be shown the correct scissor grip, cutting approach as well as cutting motion. With the practice of these 41 pages, these skills will become automatic. This program improved the cutting skills of every single child that participated in the PhD study.
